The CMV Group is managed by a Board of Directors who bring a mixture of personal and professional experiences and qualifications to the setting of both strategic and policy direction for the company.
The current composition of the CMV Group board is as follows:
David Simmons | Chair
BA (Acc). David was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd in 2008 and Chair in 2009. David also currently chairs the Ahrens Group and Kickstart for Kids boards. David was the Managing Director of Hills Industries for 16 years and has served on a number of South Australia company, government and NFP boards, including ASX listed Codan, Thompson Geer Lawyers, Detmold Group and the South Australian Economic Development Board.
Daniel Crawford | Joint Managing Director
BMechEng(Hons), GAICD. Daniel joined the company in 2010. In 2021, after holding various senior roles, he took up the position of Senior Executive Manager and was responsibile for a number of CMV Group subsidiary companies. In 2023 he was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd and was appointed Joint Managing Director in April 2024.
Miles Crawford | Joint Managing Director
BEng(MechManu), BMgmt, GAICD. Miles joined the company in 2016. After holding various senior roles he took up the position of CMV Truck & Bus General Manager, based in Victoria. In 2023 he was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd and was appointed Joint Managing Director in April 2024. In 2018 Miles was appointed a Director of the Heavy Vehicle Industry Association (HVIA) and became Vice President in 2021.
Paul Crawford | Executive Director
BTech (MechEng). Paul joined the company in 1982 and until April 2024 was the Managing Director of the CMV Group’s operations. He was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd in 1987 and held the position of Joint Managing Director, together with his brother Michael Crawford, from 1988 to 2016. In April 2024, Paul stepped down from the Managing Director role, retaining an Executive Director role. Paul has also served on a number of South Australian family company boards including RedArc and Jefferies Group.
Michael Crawford | Non-Executive Director
BEc. Michael joined the company in 1971. He was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd in 1987 and Joint Managing Director in 1988, alongside his brother, Paul. Michael officially retired from executive duties in 2016 but retains a very strong involvement with the company in his current role as non-executive Director.
David Crawford | Non-Executive Director
DipFM (MOC). David joined the company in 1978 and as Managing Director of CMV Farms Pty Ltd was responsible for the Group’s diversification into agriculture, including almonds, pistachios and wine grapes, a role he held until 2021. He was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd in 1991. David is Chair of CMV Farms’ Advisory Board and holds director positions on each of CMV Farms partnerships, including Nut Producers Australia Pty Ltd, Australian Pioneer Pistachios Pty Ltd, Riverland Almonds Pty Ltd and associated businesses.
David Skopal | Non-Executive Director
BA(Acc), GradDipAcc. David joined the company in 1984, following in his father, Keith Skopal’s footsteps, and was Company Secretary from 1991 to 2022. He was appointed Finance Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd in 1997, a role he held until his retirement in 2022. David is currently a Non-Executive Director.
Stephen Palyga | Non-Executive Director
LLB. Steve was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd in 2012 and was the Chair of the Work Health and Safety Subcommittee until November 2022. He is a lawyer and a Director of Guidera O’Connor Pty Ltd and companies in the Arteva Funding Group.
Anthony Casey | Executive Director
BA(Acc), MBA, CPA, GAICD. Anthony joined the company in 2013 and was appointed a Director in March 2016. His current role is Director – Group Operations and is Chair of the Work Health & Safety Board Committee. He previously held senior management and executive roles with Mitsubishi Motors Australia Pty Ltd.
Andrew Harding | Group Finance Director & Company Secretary
BA(Acc), CA, MBA, MAICD. Andrew joined the company in 2017 after more than 20 years’ experience in large accountancy firms. He is currently Group Finance Director and Company Secretary and was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd in 2023.
Ryan Norton | CMV Farms Managing Director
AssocDipAppSc, MAICD. Ryan joined the company in 2017 and in January 2022 took on the role as Managing Director of CMV Farms Pty Ltd. Ryan was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd in 2023 and also sits on the CMV Farms’ Advisory Board and is a director of a number of of CMV Farms’ partnerships, including Nut Producers Australia Pty Ltd and Riverland Almonds Pty Ltd. Ryan is currently a member of the Almond Board of Australia’s Sustainability Committee and the Pistachio Growers Association Executive and R&D Committee.
Heidi Crawford | Executive Director, General Counsel & Company Secretary
LLB, BIntSt, GradDipAppCorpGov, GAICD. Heidi joined the company in 2017 in an in-house legal role. In 2023, she was appointed as General Counsel and Company Secretary of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd and she also holds directorships of each of the CMV Group’s subsidiary companies. Heidi is also a director of not-for-profit SA organisation, The Village Co.
Jonathan Crawford | Executive Director
BAgricBus, GAICD. Jonathan was the first 4th generation family member to join the company in 2007. Jonathan is currently PACCAR Executive Director and in 2023 he was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles. Jonathan is also a Director of CMV Farms and sits on CMV Farms’ Advisory Board.
Drew Ford | Executive Director
BMgmt (Intl), MAICD. Drew joined the company in 2011 and his current role is CMI Toyota Group Executive Director, having worked across the CMI Toyota Group, Lexus of Adelaide and Mercedes-Benz businesses in various senior roles. In 2023 he was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles.
Ross Greig | Executive Director
BCom. Ross joined the company in 2012, and his current role is CMV Truck & Bus General Manager - Western Victoria. In 2023 he was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles.
Philippa Crawford | Executive Director
Bsc(Oenol and Vit), MBA, GAICD. Philippa joined the company in 2016 and is CMV Farms Executive Director and Property Manager for CMV Farms Robinvale, having completed an MBA in 2021. Philippa was appointed a Director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd in 2023 and also sits on the CMV Farms’ Advisory Board. She is also currently the Treasurer of the Pistachio Growers Association.
Lauren Bahr | Board Minutes Secretary & Head of Legal
LLB/LP(Hons), BIntSt, GAICD. Lauren joined the company in 2018 and holds the role of Head of Legal. She is currently the Minutes Secretary for the Board.
