Future Leaders Program

APRIL 13, 2023

The CMV Group has ambitious plans for the future and we believe that identifying leaders across our businesses is the one of the keys to our continued success. Identifying and recognising these leaders is why the CMV Future Leaders Program (FLP) was established.

After the inaugural FLP took place in 2019-2021, a second round of the Program began in late 2021. Due to COVID-19 and restrictions, the Program did run longer than anticipated but it didn’t dampen the eagerness of the participants.

To welcome participants and their managers into the FLP, dinners were held before the Program commenced in both South Australia and Victoria. As well as giving everyone the opportunity to meet each other, participants were also asked to introduce themselves to those attending and discuss what they hoped to learn from the Program.

Once the program began in August 2021, participants navigated their way through learning in world with COVID-19 and facemasks, as well as ensuring they were taking in the many leadership skills and techniques they were being taught.

Throughout the program, participants were exposed to a range of different learning techniques from internal and external facilitators, including open group discussions, team workshops, presentations and questionnaires.

Plus, the use of role play actors in many of the courses helped everyone put into practice what they were learning. This proved to be a highlight for many of the participants involved.

The topics covered were extremely diverse. From discovering each other’s personality and BIRD profiles and effective feedback techniques, to analysing financial data and understanding Targeted Selection interviewing techniques, the eight workshops provided valuable insights and training for participants.

The final topic, Effective Presentation Skills, ran over two days and set participants up for their graduation speech which was to be delivered in front of the CMV Group’s management team and Directors.

The skills learnt in this workshop not only assisted with preparing for speeches such as these, it also provided valuable preparation skills and framework for how to present to smaller groups, such as workshop or toolbox meetings.

The South Australian Graduation dinner was held at the Lion Hotel in North Adelaide and the Victorian Graduation dinner was held at the Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda.

Over the course of the evening, each participant delivered their two minute speech to all guests, highlighting the value FLP had provided them, and their personal takeaways from the Program.

Following their inspiring speeches, each FLP participant was presented with a framed certificate to mark their successful completion of the Future Leaders Program.

CMV Group Future Leaders Program

The Future Leaders Program

FLP enables the CMV Group to develop, motivate and retain high potential employees and equip them with the skills and knowledge to adapt and succeed in today’s society and expectations. The Program covers a wide range of subjects specifically selected for their relevance to the CMV Group and the role of leaders in today’s business environment.

Elected members of the FLP program have been kept small intentionally, to ensure that each participant has quality time with facilitators.

The FLP consists of eight workshops which take place over the span of 18 months. These are a combination of in-house and external training courses.

The topics covered in the Program are:

  1. Team profiling
  2. Custodians of Culture
  3. WHS Fundamentals
  4. Targeted Selection
  5. Finance for Non-Finance Managers
  6. Managing Everyday Performance
